Paada Yatra, A Piligrimate on Foot – 1st October 2022

After 2 years of gap, we are finally able to organise Paada Yatra again this year.

As most of us know that pilgrimage on foot is an age-old Hindu tradition. In India, devotees walk to Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Manasarovar, the great Pandharipur pilgrimage and the Chardham Yatra which includes the arduous task of walking at high altitudes.

Many devotees pray to God in dire situations and promise that they will come by walk if their wish is granted and promptly complete it when it comes true. We have many stories like that where some devotees got VISAs, conceived and got married soon after they finished the walk or walked after the wish came true. It could be a coincidence but that’s the belief of the devotees who have taken this spiritual detour, wishing for something that is very important for them.

Many other countries, religions and races have these traditions as well. Walking pilgrimage is an arduous task that is undertaken by devotees which is spiritual and could be adventurous as well.

This walk has been started with inspiration from some devotees who walk from Sydney Murugan Temple, Mays Hill to Sri Venkateshwara Temple in Helensburgh every year, for years.

This year’s walk details:

  • Date: 1st October 2022
  • Time: 5.30 am for 6.00 am startin
  • Starting: Sydney Murugan Temple, Mays Hill

This walk has total 3 phases:

  2. Shirdi Sai Mandir, Strathfield to Shri Venkateshwara Temple, Helensburgh – around 50 KM
  3. Sydney Murugan Temple to Shri Venkateshwara Temple, Helensburgh – around 65 KM

Be there on time to walk with everyone and not get lost in the streets.
