Yoga Day Festival – United Nations 5th Annual International Yoga Day 2019

Rapidly growing in size every year, the iconic Australia wide Yoga Day Festival was wildly successful, engaging and fun. Bringing the community together for the United Nations International Day of Yoga, Yoga Day Festival was bigger and better than ever!

Hosted by the Australian School of Meditation & Yoga, each location brought their own unique flavour. Keeping in line with the year’s UN declared them of climate change, all food served was vegan, served in biodegradable or reusable packaging, with zero waste vendors also featured.

Festivals were held in major cities all over the nation at beautiful locations such as the stunning Burleigh Heads beachfront, Melbourne city, University of Queensland in Brisbane, Darwin, Sydney QBD and Adelaide.

An expression of yoga in its complete sense, each festival incorporated a variety of immersive yoga-lifestyle activities. Special themed yoga classes with local teachers, colorful tent villages filled with yoga masterclasses, Vedic wisdom sessions and meditation workshops, kids yoga fun and games, yoga dance, soaring kirtan with some of Australia’s leading kirtan bands. Environmentally friendly plant-based food and drinks was served, keeping everyone energized on clean fuel.

Each year it has been heart-warming to see the clear effect of the festivities on each person with their relaxed, happy faces, and the friendly interactions between festivalgoers. These reactions sum up everything we love about yoga – the sense of unity, and that we can all come together as one to embody peace and live in harmony.

Growing more and more well-known across not just Australia, but globally, Yoga Day Festival now brings together over 5,000 people per year. It’s the perfect opportunity for our broader community to come together to celebrate, learn more about yoga, and give heartfelt thanks for the light, joy and inner peace that yoga brings our personal lives and humanity at large.
