Dear Community Representatives,
The Australian Government has announced the creation of an Australian Refugee Advisory Panel (The Panel). The Panel will be a formal mechanism to enhance meaningful refugee participation in Australia’s engagement with the international refugee protection system and humanitarian assistance.
Applications for the Panel are open from 8 – 30 September 2023 to candidates who have:
- held refugee status, sought asylum, or experienced forced displacement
- since resettled in Australia on a refugee, humanitarian or other visa category such as skilled migration (e.g. the Skilled Refugee Labour Agreement Pilot).
Panel members must have demonstrated leadership experience in a refugee-led or refugee-serving organisation. This includes well-established networks and active engagement with Australian, regional and/or global refugee communities.
