In this talk:

ONCE WE KNOW who our enemies are, we need to chalk out a defence strategy. Firstly, stop the enemy from entering the mind. Next: locate the enemy hideouts and flush out any festering negative forces with a blast of elevating positive thoughts.

Overly identifying with our psychophysical system is a great obstacle on the spiritual path. Reflecting on our true nature as the ever-free, ever-pure Atman, or as God’s child/ devotee/ servant, will free us from that.

The primary weapons needed for this battle are discernment, meditation, and prayer, fortified by the mighty weapon of Japa – repetition of God’s name – a veritable shield of armour protecting us from the onslaughts of the world.

The name of God is not just a word; it is one with God. Swami Abhedananda says: “Raise a wall around your mind by your discrimination. Do not allow the distraction of external circumstances to enter your mind.”

One more weapon’s needed in your arsenal – Faith. Faith will help you overcome all obstacles and reach the goal with the guidance of your guru. And remember: the only surrender should be self-surrender to God.
