In this talk:
Spiritual life is a constant battle throwing up increasingly subtle challenges. Our lower nature – negative impulses and tendencies – scheme endlessly to distract and drag us away from the spiritual path.
To be victorious in any war, military planners and spiritual aspirants should know the enemy: their strengths, weaknesses and strategies. While the military may focus on one enemy, six enemies lay siege to the spiritual path: lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride and jealousy.
The spiritual life is prone to ambush until the spiritual seeker learns to subdue these foes.
