Social distancing clarification for Temples

The department of Multiculturalism NSW is having regular meetings with faith leaders of all faiths to discuss any issues. In a meeting held this week, following points were discussed/reiterated :

  • Baptism can have up to five people and funerals can have a maximum of ten people. These numbers include everyone on those premises.
  • Places of worship can perform essential prayers with a handful of priests and broadcast these services online. However, the place of worship can not be open to general public and everyone present in the temple at that time must have a specific role.
  • Chaplaincy services policy is being clarified as some hospitals are permitting chaplains while others are not.
