Themes for Discussion:

  • Culturing Awareness: In Cultured Awareness, we are less identified with objects, thoughts and emotions, leading to an uncluttered mind not weighed down or drained by unnecessary thoughts. We’ll have more energy for ourselves and others.
  • Vedanta’s Threefold Method for Self-Knowledge: By (i) nurturing positive, strengthening thoughts; (ii) by reinforcing them through steady vigilance – chasing away the negative ones – we’ll (iii) cultivate the right mental state to intuit reality through deeper meditation.
  • Mind Turned Inward: If we practice meditation regularly and sincerely, we will find we’re increasingly in charge of our minds. Our powers of attention focused.
  • Through Yoga, our very thought processes can be made objective and studied.

Drawing on the book: ‘Science of Happiness – According to Yoga Vedanta by Pravrajika Divyanandaprana: a compilation of her talks given to students at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi in 2018.
Pravrajika Divyananandaprana is a nun of Sri Sarada Math of the Ramakrishna Order. Thousands view her talks on YouTube.
Our discussions tap into the wisdom of major world faiths and thinkers relating them to our daily life. You’re welcome to share your insights, experiences, and doubts with the group.
