Lobbying to ease Covid restrictions for Temples

By: Surinder Jain.

Hindu Council of Australia has been working with other faith organizations to ask NSW government to ease restrictions on religious activities in the state in line with health safety and inline with special permissions that have been granted to sports and other activities.

A multi faith group has made representations to the government based on expert health advice and we are hopeful of a good outcome very soon. Both sides of the politics are sympathetic that people of faith have a need to continue getting spiritual guidance by visiting their places of worship. Health experts engaged by faith groups are confident that this can be done within Covid rules of engagement for religious activities.

Hindu community has shown a lot of patience and have followed Covid rules to the letter in celebrating Deepavali within rules. Let us all hope and pray that we can start visiting our temples safely again.
