The Hindu Council of Australia attended the first meeting of the NSW Faith Affairs Council. The council consisting of 19 faith leaders adopted the following issues and requested that the government address them.  They are :

1. Establishing multi-faith prayer rooms in Government hospitals and other buildings.

2. Government chaplaincy programs in hospitals, schools and corrective facilities.

3. Issues relating to religious bullying in schools.

4. Support for and defense of multiculturalism and multi-faith communities.

5. Communications and relationship with the NSW Police Force.

In addition to the above issues, the Hindu council raised the need for a law to make Religious Coercion an offense. This item will be taken up in the next meeting.
