Hindu Council of Australia congratulates Reena Jethi on becoming Deputy Mayor.

Councillor Reena Jethi has been elected as the new Deputy Mayor of The Hills Shire during the September 10 Ordinary Meeting of Council.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne congratulated Clr Jethi on her appointment.

“I look forward to working with Clr Jethi as we continue to build on The Hills’ reputation as a great place to live, grow, do business and raise a family,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Clr Jethi is a strong advocate for The Hills community, women in Local Government and those from diverse backgrounds, and I have no doubt she will continue the wonderful work carried out by the former Deputy Mayor, Clr Haselden.

“Clr Haselden has served the community well and will continue to be recognised as an advocate for safe asbestos removal, for retaining the character of the area and for his work on Council’s new tree policy.

“I would like to thank him for his continued support and hard work throughout the past 12 months. We have overcome many challenges, enjoyed many triumphs and made history, including our work on the Lower Portland Ferry and Waves Aquatic Centre concept plans. I have no doubt Clr Jethi will rise to the challenge as we continue to deliver on an ambitious $178 million Capital Works Program in 2019-20,” Mayor Byrne added.

The position of Deputy Mayor will last for a period of 12 months.
