Video shoot on Racism and Religious discrimination against Hindus

The NSW Department of Education seeks to enrich the existing information on racism and religious discrimination featured on the Racism – No Way website, a national resource for all schools, by incorporating content that reflects the experiences of the Hindu community in Australia. In this initiative, Mr. Glenn Hokin, the Anti-Racism Education Advisor for grades 7-12, collaborated with the Hindu Council of Australia (HCA) to produce an informative video. The video shoot took place on July 25, 2024, at the Sri Karphaga Vinayakar Temple in Homebush.

The video addresses several key points:

  • Recognition of the prevalence of religious discrimination and racism against Hindu members of the Australian community
  • Various forms of religious discrimination
  • The impact of religious discrimination, particularly on students and young people
  • The influence of national and international events on the prevalence of religious discrimination
  • Strategies for addressing religious discrimination.
