International Yoga Day 2019 – Sydney

Hindu Council of Australia (HCA), in association with the Consulate General of India, Sydney, celebrated the fifth International Yoga Day with much fervour in Sydney. The event was held in Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (formerly Indian Cultural Centre) on the evening of 18th June. The event witnessed diverse participation from different yoga schools, emphasising on multidimensional benefits of yoga, including spiritual, emotional and physical well being.

Smaranam, a young Australian musical band performed various Kirtans, which was an enchanting experience amongst the attendees. This was followed by a Hatha Yoga demonstration session by Abhishek Guru, from Yoga Sadhana School of Classical Hatha Yoga. Various benefits of practising Hatha Yoga was highlighted during this session. The event concluded with a mindfulness meditation session by Gayatri Aneja from Art of Living School Sydney.

A total of 40 attendees participated in the event. The event witnessed participation from Shri Manish Gupta, Hon. Consul General of India in Sydney, Shri Surinder Jain, A/President Hindu Council of Australia, among others.”
