2021 NAVARATRI MESSAGE – Chris Minns

By: Harish Velji.

On behalf of NSW Labor, I extend my best wishes to all members of the Hindu community in New South Wales during this festival of Navaratri.
Navaratri is the auspicious festival of nine nights, where nine forms of the Goddess Durga are worshipped. The festival honours and celebrates the Goddess Durga for defeating the demon Mahishasura in a battle.
Navaratri is a reminder of the importance of reflection and showing gratitude to others.
Sadly, in the face of COVID-19 and subsequent lockdowns, members of the Hindu community will honour Navaratri in a very different way.
During this time of change and reopening, I hope you and your family will find hope, energy, and happiness.
I hope the Hindu community in New South Wales will enjoy this year’s Navaratri and take comfort in your values and traditions, and in the hope that next year we will be able to gather together once again.
