The vision of a magnificent Hindu Bhavan

Dear Bhandus,
A new chapter in our shared journey is about to unfold, a chapter that will be written by each one of us, together. The vision of a magnificent Hindu Bhavan is taking shape before our eyes, a sanctuary where our faith, culture, and values will flourish for generations to come.
Many of us have heard the wise saying in our own languages; one of our directors recited this yesterday.
“जीवितस्यार्थस्य दानं, मृतस्य कस्य दानं?”
jīvitasyārthasya dānaṃ, mṛtasya kasya dānaṃ?

Our Hindu scriptures and traditions remind us that the true merit of charity lies in giving
during our lifetime, when our hearts and hands can shape the future of our community.
If you’d like to learn more about this initiative, please email us at secretary@hinducouncil.com.au. We would be delighted to arrange a meeting and share more details with you.
As we embarked on this noble mission, let us remember that every act of contribution, no matter how small, is invaluable in the eyes of the Divine. Whenever I face a monumental task, tight deadlines, or unexpected hurdles, I am inspired by one of the most beloved stories from the Ramayana, the story of the humble squirrel.
As Lord Rama and his army built the great bridge (Ram Setu) to Lanka, mighty Vanaras like Hanuman and Sugriva were lifting enormous boulders into the ocean. Amidst this grand effort, a tiny squirrel scurried back and forth, carrying small pebbles and grains of sand in its little paws, adding them to the construction.
Some vanaras laughed at the squirrel’s efforts, thinking them insignificant. But Lord Rama noticed the squirrel’s dedication. He gently picked it up and stroked its back with affection, declaring to all:
“No act of service is too small when done with devotion. The squirrel’s contribution
is as important as the greatest boulder.”
The story is timeless wisdom. When we give with a sincere heart, we become part of something far greater than ourselves. The Hindu Bhavan we build together will stand as a testament to our collective devotion and strength.
Let each of us bring our “pebble” to this sacred effort. Whether your contribution is large or modest, it is the spirit of giving that truly counts. Together, we can create a home for our faith, culture, and future generations.
May the blessings of Lord Rama and the spirit of the squirrel inspire us all to give generously!
