This year, the Nepalese Hindu Society of Australia celebrated the Teej program on 6th September at Burwood Park with grand success. Teej is a traditional Hindu festival primarily celebrated by women in Nepal and parts of India, particularly by married women for the well-being of their husbands and families. It falls in the monsoon season and is dedicated to the goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva. The festival typically spans three days and includes fasting, prayers, and rituals for marital bliss and prosperity. Women wear red saris, sing devotional songs, and dance during the celebration. Teej holds cultural significance, symbolizing devotion, love, and the strength of a woman’s bond with her family and spouse.
