Themes for Discussion:

  • Meditation: Emotional Maturity Needed: Increased concentration power is one of many benefits gained from meditation, but it’s a double-edged sword. An increase in power needs increasing emotional maturity and stability to manage it well.
  • Yoga and Emotional Maturity: ‘Many feel Yoga is just about concentration techniques. It is not so. It is about reorienting our entire personality, thought, emotion, Will and awareness. And emotional maturity is the most important criterion for yogic practices.’
  • ‘Catching’ Emotions: Harvard and University of California studies show how infectious emotions are. Our state of mind can influence friends living nearby. It’s no surprise we can also catch the stress of others from emails, social media and texting, hence Yoga’s emphasis on cultivating good influences, helping us to face and digest bad ones.
