MESSAGE FROM CEO, BETTER BALANCED FUTURES – MURRAY NORMAN

Book your ticket here

As the CEO of Better Balanced Futures, which represents the major faith groups involved in public school religious education, I am delighted to invite you to the national launch of the book, “Special Religious Education in Australia and its Value to Contemporary Society”. The contributions of Professor Zehavit Gross with her colleague, Professor Emerita Suzanne Rutland, have revolutionised the thinking within the government and educational circles in Australia. The religious leadership of the faith groups here are very appreciative of their significant contributions in this field and without their important research starting with their ground-breaking report to the New South Wales government in 2018, the situation in terms of religious education in Australia would be very different.

One of the strengths of Australia is our multicultural society that brings together people from all parts of the world – many different cultures and religious beliefs, living, learning and working together for the good of our nation. This book lights up the path of welcoming people and allowing them to live peacefully together, through acknowledging the important role of faith in the lives of many. It covers the significant benefits of allowing students to learn about their own faith and the beliefs of others through religious education, and also the importance of teaching respect and addressing religious vilification and bullying with positive strategies for restoration and growth.
