Winner of Gargi Woman Award 2018 – (Educationist)

Dr. Meenakshi Srinivasan has been awarded Hindu Council of Australia’s Gargi Woman Award 2018 for her outstanding contribution as an Educationist. The award consisting of a plaque was presented to her by State MP for Strathfield Jodi McKay and by Mr Suman Saha Councillor, Cumberland Council.

Meenakshi is a Pioneer in introducing Sanskrit language teaching in Sydney, Australia. Despite all the odds and apathy of people towards Sanskrit, she single handedly kept conducting Sanskrit classes and after two decades of doing that she has established a regular sanskrit school. She has advanced the acceptability of ancient Hindu culture through the study of Sanskrit language. Meenakshi has organized and participated in the first Indian language conference in Australia during the year 2016. She has also appeared and promoted Sanskrit on ABC radio.  She has taught Sanskrit language to various students at Sydney University.

Dr. Meenakshi Srinivasan has been awarded for being the First women to set up a Sanskrit school  in Australia and for being an inspiration for people to learn the traditional language.
