Maha Shivaratri at Perth Hindu Temple

Perth Hindu Temple celebrating Maha Shivaratri on 26th February 2025.

  • The Nityabhishekams and Nitya Puja will go on as usual
  • Procession and Utsava Deeparathana at 7.00 PM
  • Special Abhsihekam will be at 8.30 PM, 11 PM, 1.15 PM and 3.30 PM
  • Milk Abhishekam at 9 PM
  • Maha Deeparathana at 10 PM and 11.45 PM, 2.15 AM and 5 AM
  • Special Pooja at 9.30 PM, 11.45 PM, 2.15 AM and 4.30 AM
  • Archana at 9.30 PM, 11.30 PM, 1.45 PM
  • Cultural programs from 10 PM and 11 PM
  • Prasadam distribution at 10 PM and 5 AM on 26th February
  • Refreshments distribution from 8 PM to 10 PM and 11 PM to 5 AM
  • Breakfast distribution from 5.30 AM to 6.30 AM on 27th February
  • Sarees and Veshti will be on sale from 6 PM to 9 PM
  • Temple will remain open till 12 PM on 27th February

General Religious Education in Secondary Schools

Hindu Council has been involved with the NSW Department of School Education since 2003 in drafting the original syllabus which was introduced in 2005. Cambridge University Press published the textbook for the course covering all the five religions. In 2015 we were again consulted by the publishers when the updated version of the textbook was published.

E-course on Hindu Religion

This course is designed to provide an overview of Hindu Religion and is suitable for non-Hindus to gain a very brief understanding of the Hindu religion.

A brief syllabus of the course “Introduction to Hindu Religion” is given below.

Introduction (Sanatan dharma, Definitions, Denominations and Diversity, Unity, Colonial influences), Beliefs, Purusharthas, Philosophies, Karma, Moksha, Concept of God, Traditions, Symbols, Scriptures, Rituals and Ceremonies, Rites of Passage, Bhakti, Festivals, Pilgrimage, Varnas, Yoga, Ahimsa, Vegetarianism, Temples, Ashramas of Life, Sanyasa, , Attitude of others, Hindu Religion in Australia.
