Are you concerned about climate change?

As people suffer the impacts of Cyclone Alfred in Brisbane, we are reminded that climate change remains humanity’s most serious challenge. In the long term, a warmer, more disaster-prone climate is not only unsafe for coming generations, but it is already driving up the cost of living through higher insurance premiums, crop failures, the costs of responding to bushfires and floods and then cleaning up afterwards, etc.

Are you worried about the kind of future humanity is creating by failing to curb the burning of coal, oil, and gas? Taking the right action can help calm this anxiety. Many people feel better when we know our actions could help leave our children and grandchildren with an environment that is stable, bountiful, and safe.

Taking practical, compassionate action together to protect the environment is the Mission of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change. ARRCC (pronounced ‘ark’)  is made up of people of many different faiths. We support people to do such things as eating less meat, switching their Superannuation to ethical funds that do not invest in fossil fuels, writing to their local Member of Parliament, and participating in peaceful, public actions that challenge the power of profit-seeking mining companies.

At this time, in the lead-up to the election, ARRCC is encouraging people to display corflute yard signs (30 cm x 45 cm) saying “Climate Action Now”. These are nonpartisan but remind passers-by that protecting the earth’s climate needs to be a priority when considering how to vote. If you would like to order some for yourself and your community, you can do that here: https://www.arrcc.org.au/yardsigns
