Gargi Awards 2024

The Gargi Awards Event for 2024 was held recently in Sydney. The event was graced by several well-known dignitaries including Julia Finn MP, Donna Davis MP, Charishma Kaliyanda, Niyati Mehta founder of ICCR in Australia, Deputy Mayor of Strathfield – Sandhya Redy, Reena Jethi, Sameer Pandey, Suman Saha, Usha Dommaraju and many other prominent Community leaders.
 
HCA recognizes exceptional achievements of Hindu women in the community through the prestigious Gargi Awards. The Gargi Awards were started back in 2019 to recognize women who make excellent good role models for girls and women in Australia’s Hindu community.

Gargi Awards are awarded to women who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in various fields i.e. Education, Science and Research, Performing Arts, Language, Literature & Culture, Frontline Defense, Police, Fire, Emergency Services and Aged Care, Social Welfare & Community Services.
 
The Gargi Award goes through the tough selection criteria & process by the Gargi Award committee members & respected independent jury members who are highly qualified in their respective fields. Congratulations to all the deserving winners !

General Religious Education in Secondary Schools

Hindu Council has been involved with the NSW Department of School Education since 2003 in drafting the original syllabus which was introduced in 2005. Cambridge University Press published the textbook for the course covering all the five religions. In 2015 we were again consulted by the publishers when the updated version of the textbook was published.

E-course on Hindu Religion

This course is designed to provide an overview of Hindu Religion and is suitable for non-Hindus to gain a very brief understanding of the Hindu religion.

A brief syllabus of the course “Introduction to Hindu Religion” is given below.

Introduction (Sanatan dharma, Definitions, Denominations and Diversity, Unity, Colonial influences), Beliefs, Purusharthas, Philosophies, Karma, Moksha, Concept of God, Traditions, Symbols, Scriptures, Rituals and Ceremonies, Rites of Passage, Bhakti, Festivals, Pilgrimage, Varnas, Yoga, Ahimsa, Vegetarianism, Temples, Ashramas of Life, Sanyasa, , Attitude of others, Hindu Religion in Australia.
