Hindu Council of Australia Joins Hands with Save Soil and Isha Foundation
In honour of Earth Day 2025, the Hindu Council of Australia proudly partnered with the Save Soil Movement and the Isha Foundation to organise a meaningful community event aimed at raising awareness about the urgent need to preserve and revitalise the world’s soil ecosystems.
The event brought together environmental advocates, students, and community members under a shared vision — to protect Mother Earth through mindful living, responsible choices, and ecological stewardship, rooted deeply in the Hindu way of life, which reveres the Earth as Bhoodevi, a sacred and nurturing force.
At the heart of the event was an inspiring presentation by Sahil, a remarkable 19 year old cyclist who has embarked on a courageous global journey, pedalling thousands of kilometres across continents to spread the message of soil preservation. Sahil is not just riding for a cause; he is embodying it. With each rotation of his wheels, he is planting seeds of awareness, sparking conversations, and reminding us all of our shared responsibility towards the planet that sustains us.
Through his heartfelt talk, Sahil shared real-life stories from his journey, moments of solitude, the kindness of strangers, and the growing community of supporters rallying behind the Save Soil initiative. His message resonated deeply with the audience, especially the youth, for whom he stood as a symbol of selfless action and ecological dharma.
The event also featured interactive discussions on the science behind soil degradation, the spiritual lens through which dharmic traditions view nature, and practical ways communities can get involved, from sustainable gardening to advocating for soil-centric policy changes.
In keeping with Earth Day’s spirit, saatvik vegetarian food was served, honouring both health and sustainability, and attendees were encouraged to pledge their support to the Save Soil movement through digital and physical channels.
This gathering was not just an awareness campaign; it was a celebration of intergenerational responsibility, where ancient wisdom met youthful determination. As the event concluded, participants stood united with one resolve:
“To be stewards of the Earth, protectors of soil, and bearers of hope for future generations.”
