Two well known International scholars and experts of faith based education were visiting Sydney to attend an Educational Symposium in Sydney. Hindu Council of Australia took the opportunity to take them around to meet the team from HEACC which has been working for many years to establish first Hindu School in Sydney. Professors told the team that they are looking forward to coming again when the school is fuull of students.
The scholars also visited a number of Hindu temples and spent time with Hindu Council members to understand roots of Hinduism and how it is practiced in Australia.
The Professors recently undertook world-leading research outlining that the role of education in Australian schools is vital to increasing social harmony, combating religious bullying and enhancing social cohesion – and that NSW is leading the way. Faith NSW (state branch of BBF) said the research showed that religious bullying in schools is a significant challenge that needs a tailored approach.
