STRONGLY CONDEMNS HATE GRAFFITI INCIDENT IN MELBOURNE
The Hindu Council of Australia (HCA) expresses its deepest concern and unequivocally condemns the heinous and targeted hate graffiti defacing the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bhuj, Boronia, Melbourne, and nearby Asian restaurants.
The expression, “Go Home Brown C**T”, accompanied by the image of Adolf Hitler, is hideous, hateful, and deliberately targeted, clearly proving the malicious intentions of the perpetrators. This is not only an attack on a sacred place of worship but a direct assault on the principles of mutual respect, cultural harmony, and religious freedom that Australians deeply value.
The HCA stands in solidarity with the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bhuj community and all those affected by this despicable hate crime. Such acts of intimidation and racial vilification are designed to spread fear and division – they will not succeed. The Hindu and broader multicultural communities of Australia remain resilient, united, and committed to the values of peace, respect, and non-violence.
We thank and commend the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) Multifaith Advisory Group for its quick response and strong stand against this hate attack. Their immediate and unequivocal condemnation reinforces the importance of interfaith solidarity and sends a clear message that hate has no place in our society.
We call upon:
- Victoria Police and relevant authorities to investigate this incident as a hate crime, ensure that those responsible are brought to justice swiftly, and increase vigilance around places of worship and multicultural establishments.
- All political leaders and community organisations to speak out strongly against such acts, reaffirming Australia’s zero-tolerance stance on racism and bigotry.
- All communities to remain calm, united, and continue to uphold Australia’s cherished multicultural fabric despite such provocations.
The Hindu Council of Australia reiterates that hate has no home in Australia. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies, interfaith groups, and multicultural bodies to ensure our temples, community centres, and restaurants remain safe spaces for everyone.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected communities, and we offer our full support to the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bhuj leadership during this distressing time.
Yours sincerely
