COVID-19 Service to the needy

Hindu Council of Australia (HCA) through Karma Kitchen and Hindu Benevolent Fund  have come forward with their volunteers and sponsors to help and support the community during this unprecedented crisis and lock down. We have established following support activities:

  • Created online support request form at HCA website
  • Established 1300 number for all states to contact our team for any help 
  • Provide basic grocery supplies 
  • Support for sourcing some employment
  • Counseling service for Students
  • Help in arranging temporary alternative accommodation for needy

We have registered ourselves with local councils and informed local authorities of our service in crisis to the needy.

We have established teams in each state for coordinating relief works  in their respective state.  Please note contact details for each major city as follows:

We have established a centre in Harris park, NSW to prepare “Care kit” consists of two to three weeks groceries, serials, long life milks, tinned veggies, sugar, salt, spices etc..

During last two weeks, our volunteers have delivered more than 400 Care kits, (11625 meals) to needy people, mainly international students. We have already arranged 2000 vegetarian cooked meals to supply to elderly people who are unable to cook. Total we have delivered 4630 kg groceries and 36 Volunteers were involved in this work.

 

We have also arranged temporary alternative accommodation for 5 families.   

We are contacting all volunteers, sponsors and stall holders who participated in HCA events with a request to support this work.

We are also in contact with other local organizations who are involved in this type of relief work to establish coordinated approach to reach wider community.

May I request to provide whatever help you are able to provide for this humanitarian work. You can contact your state coordinator and may join physically for sourcing raw material, delivery, packing etc.
