Australian Census 10 August 2021

Australia’s eighteenth national Census of Population and Housing will be held on Tuesday, 10 August 2021 The first Census was held in 1911 and since 1961 they have been conducted every five years.

 

The Census of Population and Housing provides a snapshot of Australia’s people and their dwellings. It provides the basis for estimating Australia’s population which is used to distribute government funds and plan services. The Census helps Australians understand who we are, where we live and how we are changing.

 

Hindu Council of Australia would like to encourage everybody to participate and share .correct information in this important process

 

Though all questions are important, we would also like to draw your attention to the following 4 important questions in this census.

Question 12 – In which country was the person born 

Question 16 – Language other than English spoken at home

Question 18 – Ancestry 

Question 19 – Religion 

 

It is important that all Hindus living in Australia become a part of this important statistical information which will help us in the shorter and longer term to strengthen our community here.

 

Please remember, you don’t have to be a citizen of Australia to answer the Census questions. You can be an international student, temporary visitor, Permanent Resident or a temporary resident. 

 

The 2021 Census will be Australia’s predominantly digital Census. From August 1, households will receive a letter with a unique Census 

Login. Every household must use it to complete the Census online, or follow the directions to order a paper form. In some locations, households will receive a paper form upfront, with the option to complete it online

 

Date to remember 

Early August 2021: Online Census form opens, households start receiving their letters. People can complete their Census as soon as they receive instructions.

Tuesday 10 August 2021Census night

The Census is compulsory.  Everyone who is staying in your household on Census night must be included. This includes visitors and babies.
