Minister offers help to bushfire victims facing visa issues

The Hon Alan Tudge MP Minister for Population, Cities and Urban Infrastructure Acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs held a roundtable meeting with leaders of multicultural communities. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss matters of importance to multicultural community and for the Government to understand how they can better assist in times of need.

Minister Tudge was heartened to hear the positive stories of communities coming together to support their fellow Australians. The bushfire relief efforts of multicultural communities and the support provided have been truly remarkable and reflect the Australian spirit. He heard the issues that face multicultural communities during these terrible events and assured us that our invaluable contributions will be raised with the relevant areas of the Department and Government for consideration and action.

The Minister through the department’s regional director, extended all support to anyone having any concerns in relation to their visa and immigration status as a result of the bushfire.
