A function to celebrate 70th Independence Day of Israel was held in Sydney at Four Seasons Hotel. The function was attended by NSW Premier Gladys Bereziklian, MP Luke Foley, Israel ambassador to Australia Mark Sofer, President Zionist Council of NSW Richard Balkin and President NSW Jewish board of deputies Jeremy Spinak. Hindu Council was represented by its NSW President Jay Raman and NSW Secretary Ashwani Jain.
Israel and India have a special relationship as Indian blood was laid in Haifa for the liberation of Haifa town and to bring Israel as a nation into existence again in 20th century.
